Music plays an integral part in films. Music is normally used to express a character's emotion. It is also used to heighten the drama of the film and establishes the relevant mood. The music can also enable you to know the time or setting of the film. The Music is extremely important as it can be used to set the mood so its key that you use the right music to convey the mood or the scene.
For our opening sequence we all had to have a unsigned artist for the music. The music that we were going to use is rap/hip-hop as it would compliment and go very well with our character and the scene setting the mood, as our film is has elements of youth culture and gang violence and the music would also represent that.
We spent a very long time looking for the right music as we thought it is an extremely important part within our opening sequence. Once we found the correct song we the had to edit and put it in within our production we had to fade it in and out as there is a camera shot of me turning up the volume in my car so its important it fades in to make it look correct and flow. We then made sure it faded out when he picked up the gun to add a sense of realisation and worry which really make the audience stop and think whats going to happen as when the music cuts out it feels like he hits reality.
