21 jump street filming

In this task we had to re-act a scene from 21 jump street. The scene we decided to act out was the drug scene. I felt like i learnt a lot from filming and how to film and the editing that comes along with it. There was a number of different shots we had to film i will go on to explain them later. I felt like it the shots didnt go as well as planned. i now know what i need to do in order to make the camera shots better. I now know you have to think on a number of things when taking the shot. the head space has to be right as well as the postioning of the camera. next time we go to film i feel like i will have a better understanding of how to film the different shots and have learnt a lot from this task.

Some of the camera shots that were involved are medium shots with people walking into the shot so we need to make sure the head space and what we want in the shot are still there and no one is being cut off out of it. The editing had to be right the continuity of the shots has to be correct as well. When we did our shots the continuity of the shots wasnt very good this is bad as it can make the audience feel like its not real and believe able. When we are editing we need to makesure that when we finsih the shot in the right position and start it off in the right position again so that the auidenece realise we havent editied and that it looks real and continuous. Another shot that is hard to perform is reverse angle and 180 degree angle filming over someones shoulder when they are talking to someone. Its hard because we need to makesure there is the corect headspace and can clearly see the persons facial expressions that you are talking to.
I now know the other things i need to be concentartiong when filming the shots. Not just the type of shot but the compostion of the shot and the postioning of it. This task was very helpful and will be looking forward to my next filming.
